What started as a half baked idea to have a BBQ at the end of MARCH of all months turned into a life changing event.
Beats and Bars BBQ was born 03/28/2023 in the front yard of the Blue Cheese rapping eMCee and one half of the duo ‘The UMC’s' Kool Kim.
“I had just completed the work on my studio while sharing the progress online. I was so excited about the results that I just decided one day to hold a BBQ (without discussing it with my wife first mind you) at my house!” -Kool Kim
Done on a whim, the event turn out was unexpected considering the time of year, the temperature and the location. Coming out of the event all parties involved knew that there was something special happening and it couldn't be ignored.
Going into the next year Kool Kim made some significant adjustments to the event. It seemed that the first years event was centered around the studio build. Last years was focused around remodeling the Garden, and adding an outdoor Kitchen and stage/deck.
The vibes reached an entirely new level. It was like a garden retreat that brought about such a unique esthetic that all the attendees were blown away. With the help of “Inner City Bedlam” the resident band of the event the vibes were outright special. Surprise performances by Dinco D, Akil the MC, Mikey D and more were a definitely highlight. The food was amazing, “We were sent to the garden to pick our own Tomatoes and Lettuce for our burgers!! Yo, that was crazy, but I loved it" - S. Gamboa (attendee)
This year we're concentrating on expanding the attendance of the event. We've figured out the nuts and bolts of things, we know what goes where and how things should move and now it's time to open the event to a wider audience.
